Use Asemic Writing to Create Abstract Compositions
CJ will introduce the concepts and principles of Asemic writing/drawing. Learn to reveal your Creative DNA and use this technique to rediscover authentic marks and texture to build fresh abstract compositions. CJ uses Asemic repetitions, Asemic Group painting, Kinesthetic movement exercises, and more. Watch his podcast, "How to be a Unique Artist by Using Asemic Writing," by clicking here.
Build A Seeded Journal with Crystal Nelson
Crystal Nelson will be leading a session where we will be making a Seeded Journal. She will show us how to incorporate intuitive collage into our daily art practice and how to add mark-making with non-traditional objects. The result will be an art journal that will make a great artifact of our time together at this year’s retreat.
Asemic Writing and Acetate with Melanie Brannan!
Melanie will guide us in using acetate as a surface for asemic doodling, combining abstract marks with Fine Line Applicators and acrylic paint. Acetate is transparent and works well with acrylics, which adhere easily and dry permanently. By layering the acetate over a sheet from your journal, we’ll create a layered, multi-dimensional piece.
The exercise begins with spontaneous, non-verbal marks on the acetate, tapping into the Spiritual Asemic Writing practice.
